A Letter from Our Pastor
My dear friends in Christ,
This Sunday the whole Church pauses to gaze upon a mystery so familiar that we can easily forget how astonishing it is: the Most Holy Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. On the night before he died, Jesus took bread, gave thanks, broke it, and said, "This is my body, which is given for you." He did not give us merely a symbol to remember him by, nor a lecture to ponder. He gave us himself — really, truly, and substantially present under the humble signs of bread and wine.
I often think of the parishioners I have anointed over the years, men and women at the very end of their earthly lives. When there were no more words to say, when medicine had done all it could, the one thing that still brought peace was the Eucharist placed gently on the tongue. "The Bread of angels becomes the Bread of pilgrims," the old hymn says. In our weakest hour, the Lord feeds us with his own life.
Corpus Christi is a day to recover our wonder. Ask yourself honestly: when I come forward in the Communion line, do I believe that I am about to receive God himself? Do I approach with the reverence, the hunger, the joy that such a gift deserves — or have I let it become routine, one more thing in a busy Sunday? The saints tell us that a single Holy Communion, received worthily and with love, is enough to make us holy. We have received the Eucharist hundreds, perhaps thousands of times. What might our parish look like if each of those encounters had truly changed us?
This week I want to invite every household to do three simple things. First, come to Mass a few minutes early and spend that time in silence, preparing your heart to receive the Lord. Second, make a visit to our church during the week — the doors are open, and Jesus waits in the tabernacle, hoping for the company of his friends. Our Thursday evening Adoration is a beautiful place to begin. Third, after you receive Communion, do not rush. Stay. Speak to him. Thank him. Tell him what is heavy on your heart and let him carry it.
We will mark this great solemnity with our parish Eucharistic procession following the 11:00 Mass, carrying our Lord through the streets of Gilroy as a witness of faith and love to our whole community. I hope you and your family will join us. Bring your children; let them see that we believe what we profess.
The Eucharist is the source and summit of our life together. Everything we do as a parish — every ministry, every meeting, every act of service — flows from this altar and returns to it. Let us never take it for granted.

A Word from the Pastoral Team
In these days of Ordinary Time, the Church walks steadily with Christ through the ordinary fabric of our days. There is no great feast on the horizon, no fast to keep — only the quiet, faithful following of the Lord through work and rest, through Sundays and weekdays alike. And it is precisely here, in the ordinary, that holiness is forged.
Discipleship is rarely dramatic. It is the patient, daily choice to love when it is inconvenient, to forgive when it is hard, to show up when no one is watching. The saints were not made in a single heroic moment but in ten thousand small acts of fidelity, and the same path is open to each of us, this week and every week.
So let us grow, day by day, in faith, hope, and love. Bring your ordinary work and offer it to God. Be patient with your family and generous with your neighbor. And gather faithfully around this altar, where ordinary bread and wine become for us the very Body and Blood of Christ, strengthening us for the journey.
This week the Church also celebrates The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. We give thanks for this gift in the life of the Church, and we ask the intercession and example of those who have gone before us to strengthen our own discipleship.
We also hold in prayer all who suffer across our world — those touched by war, disaster, illness, and hardship. We do not look away from their pain; we lift it to God, and we ask the Lord to make us, in whatever way we can, instruments of his peace.
And we do all of this not alone but together, as one parish family. Reach out this week to someone who is struggling. Welcome the newcomer, visit the sick, encourage the young, and give thanks for the many hands that quietly keep our parish alive. The Gospel is best preached by the way we love one another.
May God bless you and all whom you love this week, and may he keep you close to his heart.

- First Communion Registration Open
Families with children in 2nd grade and up may now register for First Holy Communion preparation. Classes begin in September.

This Sunday's Reflection
It must have been shocking to Jesus’ listeners the first time He boldly proclaimed that He would give His flesh as spiritual food. Their reaction makes this clear: “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” Jesus did not back down or soften what He had just proclaimed.

Ministry Spotlight: St. Vincent de Paul
Our St. Vincent de Paul conference had a quietly heroic month. Thanks to your generosity in the poor boxes, volunteers delivered groceries to fourteen families, helped two households avoid eviction, and covered an emergency utility bill for an elderly neighbor living alone.
The need in Gilroy is real and growing. If you feel called to home visits or can help sort donations on Saturday mornings, we would love to welcome you. No experience is necessary — only a willing heart.
Faith Formation — Registration Now Open
Registration for the 2026–2027 faith formation year is now open for children in grades 1 through 8, along with our Confirmation and RCIA programs for teens and adults. Classes begin the week of September 8.
Early registration helps us plan catechists and materials, so please sign up before August 1. Scholarships are available for any family that needs assistance — simply ask Sister Angela. No family is ever turned away for cost.
